Why Do We Say "Merry Christmas?"

It’s believed that an English admiral first used the term Merry Christmas in an informal letter, back in 1699. In 1843, Charles Dickens used the phrase in "The Christmas Carol," and that same year it was used in the first ever mass-produced Christmas card.

Centuries later, this remains the most popular greeting of the season.
