Why Our St. Patrick's Day is Special

We all know there is nothing like Cleveland's St. Patrick's Day parade.

But why is Cleveland the place for so many Irish to celebrate? Turns out 14% of Ohioans are of Irish descent, with a majority living in Rocky River, Fairview Park, Bay Village and Lakewood.

An article by the Plain Dealer found that "many of the Irish who settled in Cuyahoga County came from County Mayo, on Ireland's west coast."

Started in 1867, Cleveland's St. Patty's Day parade has only grown larger and is now an event for everyone, not just the Irish, to celebrate!
