A mom on a mission...

In 1998, a California mom sought clothes for her daughters free of chemicals and toxic dyes but found few organic, healthy, and beautiful options. This led to the creation of Under the Nile. With a fashion degree and a mission to make sustainable, affordable organic clothes, she traveled to Egypt, home of some of the finest cotton. There, she partnered with SEKEM—a group of farmers, artisans, engineers and dreamers who were bringing the desert to life by growing and harvesting organic biodynamic cotton in a sustainable and ethical way. (Biodynamic farming; a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to agriculture.)

For 25 years, they crafted sustainable products for children and homes. In 2023, she retired, entrusting Under the Nile to SEKEM, continuing their mission to provide beautiful, affordable, eco-friendly products directly from the source.
